Harry Gerald Neyhart, age 93 of Highland, peacefully went to his heavenly home on Monday April 8, 2013 .
He is survived by his three loving children Gary Neyhart of Schererville, Karen (Neil) Thomas of Schererville and Janet (Michael) Garcia of Highland.
7 wonderful grandchildren; Julie, Ryan (Gina), Jason Neyhart and Bob (Marcie), Dan (Emily) Phares, Becky (Tim) Stevenson and Ashley Garcia.
And 7 great granddaughters
3 brothers Gene Neyhart, John (Darlene) Neyhart and Wilmer (Jean) Neyhart.
Numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews,  cousins and friends.
He joins in heaven his devoted wife of 65 years Marian F. (Nee Grugel), parents Harry and Bessie Neyhart, 2 brothers Vane and Reid Neyhart .
Funeral service will be held on Friday April 12,2013 at 10:00 a.m. DIRECTLY at the First Christian Church of Hessville, 6733 Alabama Ave. Hammond with Dan Nichols, Minister officiating. Burial will follow at Chapel Lawn Cemetery, in Schererville.
Friends are invited to meet with the family at Bocken Funeral Home 7042 Kennedy Avenue, Hammond (Hessville) on Thursday from 2pm until 8 pm.
and on Friday morning at the First Christian Church from 9.30am until the time of the service at 10:00 a.m.
Gerald was a lifetime resident of the Calumet Area and a long time member of the First Christian Church where over the years he served as an Elder, Trustee and Sunday School teacher. He was a 1938 graduate of Hammond High School. Gerald served our country in the Army during WWII. He retired from Inland steel as an electrician in 1983 but his true passion was carpentry.He had built his and several other homes as well as serving as the general contractor for the building of Cline Gardens Christian Church.
After his retirement he enjoyed spending time with his wife and they served the Lord together as volunteers at the Chicagoland Christian Village. Gerald was a very loving husband, devoted father, grandfather, great grandfather and  friend who will be dearly missed.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of the Calumet Area.
