Harry "Dick" Platt, 71, formerly of Hammond, IN passed away Wednesday, August 22 among family and close friends.

Harry was survived by his sons, Kevin (Sandra) Platt and Shawn Platt;
Grandchildren: Alexis, Jeremie, and Aiden;
Former wife, Karen Platt, and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
He was preceded in death by parents, Harry and Laura Platt; brother, Ron and sister, Lila.
Harry was a U.S. Army Veteran and retired from the Hammond Police Department after 25 years of service.  An avid Chicago Cubs fan and fisherman, he enjoyed a long-retirement with his family.
Viewing will be held on Sunday, August 26, 2012 from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. immediately followed by a service at Bocken Funeral Home, 7042 Kennedy Avenue, Hammond (Hessville) with  Pastor James T. Swanson, officiating, former Pastor of
Christ Lutheran Church, where Harry was a long time member before his retirement years. Committal service will be held on Monday, August 27th at Bocken Funeral Home at 10:00 a.m. followed by a procession to Lake Village Cemetery for burial.
Friends and family are invited to "Celebrate" Harry's
life immediately following the Sunday's viewing and service at one of his favorite hometown Hammond staples, House of Pizza, starting at 7:00 p.m.
