Hattie Ruth Blaszkiewicz-Steenson, age 64, of Highland, passed away peacefully in her home on August 21, 2017 surrounded by her family after a long illness.

Ruth is survived by her husband: Terry Steenson; sister: Laflonda Whitten; numerous cousins; kitten's Slick, Scootie, Stacy and a host of dear friends.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, W.T and Laura Whitten; husband: Richard J. Blaszkiewicz, and brother Danny Lee Whitten.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 26,2017 at 10:00 a.m. at Bocken Funeral Home, 7042 Kennedy Avenue, Hammond (Hessville) with Richard Warner, officiating. Burial will follow at Chapel Lawn Memorial Garden's in Schererville, IN. Friends are invited to meet with the family at Bocken Funeral Home on Friday, August 25th from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.

Ruth was born and raised in Whiting, and graduated from George Rogers Clark High School. She later graduated from Creative Beauty Academy.Then owned and operated Perm Firm Beauty Salon in Hammond. She loved camping and the outdoors. Ruth enjoyed being with her family and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
