Helen Darnell, age 89 of Schererville, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 27, 2012 at the Riley Hospice in Munster.
She is survived by her 2 grandsons: Ryan and Shaun Comer;
one great grandchild, Megan Comer;  several nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by her beloved husband of 50 years,
George Darnell; daughter, Janet Comer; son-in-law, Sam Comer and one brother, Mike Stanim.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, January 31, 2012 at 12:00 p.m. Noon at Bocken Funeral Home, 7042 Kennedy Avenue, Hammond (Hessville) with Pastor
Joe Best officiating. Burial will follow at Calumet Park Cemetery in Merrillville. Friends are invited to meet with the family on Tuesday morning from 9:00 a.m. until the service at 12:00 p.m. at Bocken Funeral Home.
Helen was a lifetime resident of the Calumet Area. She worked as a clerk for over 30 years at the Community Department Store in Highland, located in the Ultra Plaza. Helen enjoyed working in her garden and reading. She loved to bake "goodies" and cook for her family.
