Hilario C. Campos age 90 of Shorewood, IL, formerly of South Chicago passed away on Saturday February 22, 2014. Devoted and loving husband of 64 years to the late Genevieve Campos. Loving father of Larry (Mary Ellen) Campos, Isabelle Zayas, Carolyn Campos, late Stephen Campos, Theresa (Jesse Izaguirre) Gonzalez and Raymond (Deborah) Campos. Grandfather of 12 and great grandfather of 10, 4 sisters and 3 brothers.
Numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, nephews, in-laws and friends.
Hilario proudly served our country in the Army during WWII as a Parachutist Rifleman while serving overseas. Participated in sixteen jumps and one combat jump in Normandy. Maintained and operated a rifle against enemy personal and positions. Highly trained in close combat warfare, being familiar with various small arms such as pistol, rifle, carbine and machine guns. Hilario was wounded in combat and received a Purple Heart.
A funeral service will be held on  Thursday February 27,2014
With prayers at 8:45am at Elmwood Chapel followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 am. At Our Lady Of Guadalupe Catholic Church 3200 East 91st Street, Chicago. IL 60617. Interment with Military Honors at St. Mary Cemetery, Evergreen Park, IL. Visitation  will be on Wednesday February 26,2014 from 2pm until 8pm at Elmwood Chapel 11200 S.
