Irene Denton, age 97, of Hammond, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, December 19, 2017.

She is survived by her son, Fred Denton, Sr. "Hatter"; five grandchildren: Lori (Dennis) Tucker, Holly (Roger) Midkiff, Fred Denton II, Heidi (Chet) Moneta and Christi Denton; numerous great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.

Preceded in death by her loving husband, Fred C. Denton; parents, John and Alma Artim and thirteen siblings.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, December 23, 2017 at 9:45 a.m. at Bocken Funeral Home, 7042 Kennedy Avenue, Hammond (Hessville) with Pastor Don Jabaay officiating. Burial will follow at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens in Schererville. Friends are invited to meet with the family on Friday, December 22, 2017 at Bocken Funeral Home from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.

Irene was a lifetime resident of Hammond. She had faithfully attended Pine Street Presbyterian Church and more recently began attending the Hammond Christian Reform Church. Irene enjoyed sewing and baking and dearly loved spending time with her grandchildren. In lieu of flowers the family is requesting memorials be given to the American Breast Cancer Foundation.
