James "Tom" Thomas Bevill

James "Tom" Thomas Bevill, age 84, of Hessville away peacefully at his home on Friday, June 10, 2011.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Evelyn;

3 sons: Thomas D. (Sharon) Bevill of Griffith;

Marty W. (Donna) Bevill of Hammond and

James M. Bevill also of Hammond;

5 grandchildren:Jamie (Robbie) Stillwell; Kimberly (Glen) Karwick; Ben (Rhiannon) Bevill; Stacy Bevill and Jimmy Bevill; 8 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and a host of many dear friends.

Preceded in death by his parents, James W. and Irene Bevill; 2 great grandchildren, Lillian and Angel Karwick and 2 sisters, Nellie Hamilton and Katherine Thompson.

Funeral Services will be held on Monday, June 13, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at Bocken Funeral Home, 7042 Kennedy Avenue, Hammond (Hessville) with Pastor Scott Hobbs officiating. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery in Hammond. Friends are invited to meet with the family at Bocken Funeral Home on Sunday, June 12th from

2:00 to 4:00 pm & 6:00 until 8pm.

Tom was born on November 14, 1926 in McKenzie, TN and has been a resident of the Hessville section of Hammond for over 40 years. He worked as a car inspector for the CSXT Rail Road and retired in 1989 after 37 years of service. Tom was a WWII U.S. Navy veteran. He was a faithful member of First Baptist Church in Griffith. Tom had a kind heart, very giving and always willing to help others in need. He was loved by all who knew him.
