James Edward Gilchrist, age 54, of Hammond, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, October 22, 2014.

He is survived by 3 sisters: Loretta Sullivan

Sue Waterman

Bette Ann (Tim) Hutchison

1 brother: Bob (Claudia) Sullivan

Numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and friends; along with his "big baby", his dog, "Zena".

Preceded in death by his parents, George and Audrey Gilchrist.

Funeral Services will be held on Monday, October 27, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at Bocken Funeral Home, 7042 Kennedy Avenue, Hammond (Hessville).  Burial will follow at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens in Schererville.

Friends are invited to meet with the family for a time of visitation on Monday, October 27, 2014 from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at 1:00 p.m.

Jim was a lifetime resident of the Hammond area, and was a 1978 graduate of Morton High School. Jim was a sports enthusiast he enjoyed watching all sports, and was an avid  collector of  memorabilia. Jim loved animals and therefore the family is requesting that in lieu of flowers memorials be made in Jim's memory to the Humane Society of the Calumet Area.
