James Patrick Larson, age 68, of Hammond, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 20, 2025.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Darlene Larson (Nee Pyka); brother, John Larson; sister-in-law, Anna (Eddie) Perez; brother-in-law, Stan (Anna Eck) Pyka; numerous nieces, nephews and friends including his best friends: Mark Ladd and Randy Smack.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents: Pete and Pat Larson; sister, Terri Holt and brother, Tom Larson.
Friends are invited to join the family for a time of visitation on Monday, October 27, 2025, from 4:00 p.m.- 8:00 p.m. at Bocken Funeral Home 7042 Kennedy Avenue, (Hessville) Hammond, IN 46323. A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at St. John Bosco Catholic Church 7113 Columbia Avenue, Hammond, IN 46324, visitation will be held at church on Tuesday from 9:30 a.m. until the Mass. Private cremation will follow.
Jim was a lifelong resident of the region and had attended Morton High School. He went on to proudly serve our country in U.S. Army. James worked as a heavy equipment operator for the Village of Oak Park until his retirement in 2011. He was previously employed by the Indiana Department of Transportation as a snowplow driver. In his free time, Jim enjoyed golfing and cheering for his favorite teams—the Chicago Bears, the White Sox, and Notre Dame. Jim was deeply loved by all who knew him and will be greatly missed. He will be remembered for his great sense of humor. In lieu of flowers memorials to Wounded Warrior Project would be appreciated.
