James Mechei



James Mechei, age 95 of Hammond, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 16, 2011.
He is survived by his sister, Ethel Sampias and
several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 62 years,
Stella Mechei (nee, Kosier); loving daughter, Dr. Martha J. Mechei; parents, Frank and Theresa Mechei; brother, Phillip Mechei and sister, Grace Richardson.
Funeral service will be held on Monday December 19, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at Bocken Funeral Home, 7042 Kennedy Avenue, Hammond (Hessville) with Pastor Lou Rodriguez officiating. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery, Hammond, IN. Friends are invited to meet with the family on Monday morning from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m.
Jim was born on April 3, 1916 in East Chicago and has lived in the Calumet Area his entire life. He retired from American Bridge in 1980 after over 40 years working construction. Jim was a proud U.S. Army veteran who served his country during WWII and a longtime member of McKinley Lodge #712 F. & A.M. He enjoyed entertaining others as Zimbo the clown with the Orak Shriners.
He was a very loving husband, devoted and generous father, brother and uncle who will be dearly missed.
