James Stephen Moredich, age 73, of Hammond entered into the gates of heaven on Friday, November 22, 2013.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 51 years, Mary C. Moredich (Nee Duron); three children: Jeffrey (Cheryl) Moredich, Nancy (Andrew) Csont and Robert (Kimberly) Moredich;
6 grandchildren: Jacquelyn, Nicholas, Benjamin and Aaron Moredich and Lauren and Allison Csont;
1 great grandchild: Eva Rose Buehne;
1 sister: Marilyn (Norman) Kruse; 1 sister in law: Betty (Stan) Slazyk; 3 brothers in law: Mike (late Helen) Toth, James  (Maureen) Toth and Louis (Diane) Toth;  nieces: Karen Kruse, Cathy Leedy, Liz Eggers, Jennifer Campbell and Ann; nephews: Russell Kruse, Erik (Laurie)Slazyk,  TJ,Mike Jr, David, Ron, and Michael Toth; 1 aunt: Pauline Zimnawoda-Brehmer; numerous cousins and dear friends.
Preceded in death by his parents Stephen and Mary Moredich (Nee Janos).
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, November 25, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. directly at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, 7132 Arizona Avenue, Hammond (Hessville) with Rev. Charles Mosley celebrant. Burial will follow at Calumet Park Cemetery in Merrillville. Friends are invited to meet with the family for a time of visitation on Sunday, November 24, 2013 at Bocken Funeral Home, 7042 Kennedy Avenue, Hammond, (Hessville) from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
There will be a time of viewing at the church on Monday morning from 9:30 a.m. until the mass at 10:00 a.m.
Jim has been a lifetime resident of the Calumet Area and was a 1959 graduate of Hammond Tech High School. Jim served our country in the US Army Military Police. He retired from Lever Brother's in 1992 as an electrician after 31 years. Jim was a member of the American Legion Post 232, the South Suburban Sportsman's Club and Lever Brother's Retiree Club. He has been a faithful member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church. He was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle and friend who will be dearly missed. Jim loved attending his grandchildren's various activities and was fortunate to be able to travel the world with his family. In lieu of flowers the family is requesting that memorials be made to the St. Joseph's Carmelite Home in East Chicago, or Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church.
