James Harvey Shewmaker, age 80, of Hammond, passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, April 30, 2015.
He is survived by his brother-in-law, Steve Wojas, several nieces, nephews, caregiver and friends: Diego and Judy Gonzalez and Janice Farmer.

Preceded in death by wife, Connie (nee, Wojas) Shewmaker; parents, Harvey and Mabell Shewmaker; sister, Penny Joyce Osterman.

James was born in Chicago, Il on August 30, 1934. He was a 1952 graduate of Hammond Tech High School. James was a U.S. Navy and U.S. Marine Corp. veteran. He retired from L.T.V. Steel after working for over 30 years as an electrician. James enjoyed photography and music. He loved his little chihuahua, "Nestle". James was a dear and loyal friend and will be missed by all who knew him.

Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, May 6, 2015 at 12:00 p.m. directly at Chapel Lawn Memorial Garden Cemetery in Schererville.
