James D. Wilkerson, age 77, of Whiting, entered into eternal life on Sunday, October 27, 2019. He is survived by his son, Tim (Cheryl) Wilkerson; grandson, Allen Polkinghorn; brother-in-law, Donald (Cathy) Abercrombie; nephew, Marc Abercrombie; nieces: Erin (Luke) Dorche and Dawn Brim.

Preceded in death by his beloved wife, Verna Louise Wilkerson; father, James W. Wilkerson; mother, Helen E. Gyure; one brother, Larry Wilkerson and nephew, James McGowen.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday, November 1, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at Bocken Funeral Home, 7042 Kennedy Avenue, Hammond (Hessville) with Brother Paul Vale officiating. Burial will follow at Ridgelawn Cemetery in Gary. Friends are invited to meet with the family on Thursday, October 31, 2019 from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Bocken Funeral Home.

Jim was a lifelong resident of Whiting. He retired from Amoco Oil after serving many years as a computer programmer. Jim was a member of the Amoco Retirees Club and was an avid Chicago Cubs fan. "Go Cubbies"!
