Janet M. Simon, age 91, of Munster was called home by her Lord and Savior on Thursday, December 12, 2024, while surrounded by her loved ones.

She is survived by her loving son: Kurt (Collene) Simon; grandson: Dillon (Bekah) Simon; great-granddaughter, Lorraine Simon; grandson Richard Miller; one sister, Judith Hensley as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends including her caregiver Precious.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Herbert Samuel Simon; parents, Russell Patrick and Pearl Hensley; great-grandson,  Bennett Simon and siblings: Randell (Ione) Hensley, Bonnie (Ed) Reinert, Patrick (Dorothy) Hensley, Dennis (Maxine) Hensley, Dale Hensley and Tim (Marilyn) Hensley.

A memorial service to celebrate the life of Janet M. Simon and her sister Judith Hensley will be held on Friday, August 1, 2025 at Bocken Funeral Home, 7042 Kennedy Avenue, Hammond, IN 46323. Friends are invited to meet with the family from 4:00 p.m. until the service at 5:30 p.m.

Janet was born and raised in Hammond, she attended Hammond Tech High School and lived in Hammond until 1978 when she and Herb moved to Munster. She enjoyed making ceramics, playing bunco and entertaining family and friends with coffee and cake. Janet loved her family and loved the times spent together. The holiday gatherings will never be the same without her homemade noodles and deviled eggs.
