IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Jason Richard
Hawkins
October 8, 1977 – July 8, 2025
Jason Richard Hawkins, 47, of Hammond, Indiana, passed away on July 8, 2025.
Born on October 8, 1977, to Rick and Josie Hawkins, Jason was the oldest of four siblings. He was a proud lifelong resident of Hammond and a graduate of Hammond High School, Class of 1995.
Jason was full of life and never knew a stranger. He lived his life loudly and for Jesus Christ, never missing an opportunity to share his faith and encourage others to do the same.
He was extremely proud to serve the city of Hammond in the Code Enforcement Office, where he was dedicated to his work and loved what he did. Many who knew him remember his captivating smile and could always count on him for a good conversation — a gift of gab he often called one of his true blessings from God.
Jason was a diehard Hammond High Wildcat fan, following the football and basketball teams for many years and earning the nickname "Jdigzwildcats" among his friends and community. He was also an avid Alabama Crimson Tide fan (Roll Tide!) and cheered passionately for the Chicago Cubs. In addition to his love of Hammond High and Region sports, he was a devoted ARW Wrestling fan and loved supporting his favorite wrestler, Nick Diamond.
Above all, Jason was a devoted husband and father who loved his family more than anything in the world. He was so proud of his children, their faith, and their journey with Christ. He cherished his wife Angela, his partner of 27 years, and worked tirelessly — even holding two jobs at times — to provide for his family and support his children in all their endeavors.
Jason was preceded in death by his parents, Rick and Josie Hawkins, and his grandparents, Bill and Gertrude Hawkins and Timoteo and Francis Medrano.
He is survived by his loving wife Angela; his four children, Anthony (Krystal), John, Alyson, and Jonah; and two grandchildren, Kaylee and Giovanni. He is also survived by his two brothers, Matthew (Hillary) and Marty; his sister, Melinda; along with aunts, cousins, and a host of dear friends who truly loved him.
Visitation will be held at Bocken Funeral Home, 7042 Kennedy Avenue, Hammond, Indiana, on Tuesday, July 15, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM. A private family time will take place on Wednesday, July 16, from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM, followed by the funeral at 10:00 AM. Burial will follow at Concordia Cemetery, 6551 Calumet Avenue, Hammond, Indiana.
The family extends their heartfelt thanks to all who have shown love and support during this difficult time.
