Jean Rose Fleener, age 84, of Gary, entered into the gates of heaven on Friday, April 4, 2014.
Survived by 3 children: Renee (Herbert) Graham, Patrick (Aurea) Fleener and Jim (Lyla) Davis;
7 grandchildren: Ron (Tammy) Sweatt, Jennifer (Skye) Gouge, James (Elizabeth) Cleveland, Jerald (Olivia) Graham, Jason Fleener, Julie Fleener and Janine Davis;
10 great grandchildren; Hannah, Rachel, Daisy, Chole, Abigail, James Raymond Jr., Sophie, Aubree, William and Zoe;
1 sister, Wanda Holland;
many nieces, nephews and dear friends.
Preceded in death by her beloved husbands, Virgil Capretz and Lyle Seward Fleener her parents, Orval and Stella Sowers, 3 brothers; Robert (Alma) Sowers, Elmer W. (Ruth) Sowers and Orval E. "Rip" (Annalou) Sowers Jr., 1 sister; Gladys (Henry) Winkelman, 1 brother in-law James O. Holland.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, April 8, 2014 at 5:00 p.m. Directly at Hoffman Street Baptist Church, 1116 Hoffman, Hammond, IN 46327 with Rev. Ron Sweatt and Rev. Daniel Hendon officiating.
Friends are invited to meet with the family at Hoffman Street Baptist Church for visitation on Tuesday, April 8, 2014 from 2:00pm. until 5:00 p.m.
A graveside burial will take place on Wednesday April 9,2014 at 2:00 pm at Lindale Memorial Gardens in Harrisburg, Illinois.
Jean was born and raised in Harrisburg, Illinois and lived in the Calumet Area since 1948. She was a cashier at Walgreens for over 30 years. Jean was a faithful longtime member of Hoffman Street Baptist Church in Hammond and served for many years in various ministries including Sunday School Teacher for Children and more recently the Ladies adult class. She was a faithful follower of Jesus who dearly loved her Lord, her church and reading her Bible. Jean served as a Chaplain for the Salvation Army Hammond-Munster Corps. Jean dearly loved her family; she was a sweet and loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend who will be dearly missed by all who were blessed to know her. In lieu of flowers memorials to the Hoffman Street Baptist Church would be appreciated.
