Jerome Edward Bogner, Sr., age 85 of Warsaw, formerly of Cedar Lake and Hessville, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 30, 2010.

Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, November 5, 2010 at 10am DIRECTLY at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church 7132 Arizona Avenue, Hammond( Hessville)with Father Charles Mosley celebrant. Burial will follow at St. John-St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Hammond. Friends are invited to meet with the family on Thursday, November 4 th from 2 until 8pm at Bocken Funeral Home. 7042 Kennedy Avenue, Hammond (Hessville) and at the Church on Friday morning from 9:15am until the time of the Mass.
Jerry was born and raised in Hammond and was a 1944 graduate of Hammond High School. He was a proud U.S. Army Veteran and served in the African Theater during WWII. He was employed as a Sheet Metal worker at Budd the Furnace Man for 20 years, then Ogden Engineering for 5 years and finished his career at General Drainage working with his family until his retirement in 1988. Jerry was always generous in sharing his abilities to fix almost anything and he was always inventing better ways to do things. He was a loving father, grandfather and great grandfather and will be missed not only by his family but by many dear friends. In lieu of flowers the family is requesting donations to be made to VNA Hospice, 2404 Valparaiso St., Valparaiso, IN or the American Heart Assoc., 1-800-242-8721.
