Gerald R. Tokarz, age 65, of Hammond, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, August 15, 2013, after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 40 years, Peggy Lee Tokarz, (nee, Conner);
2 daughters: Wendy and Melissa (Steve) Smith;
2 sons: Michael (Melissa) and Eric Tokarz;
10 grandchildren;
1 brother, Joseph A. Tokarz, Jr.;
3 sisters: Judy Selby, Marlene Kramaric and
Cecelia Mae Morton;
Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
Preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Mildred Tokarz; 2 sisters: Mildred and Darlene.
Friends are invited to meet with the family for a time of visitation on Saturday, August 17, 2013 at
Bocken Funeral Home, 7042 Kennedy Avenue,
Hammond (Hessville) from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
Funeral Service will be held on Saturday evening, August 17th at 7:30 p.m.
Private cremation will follow.
Jerry was born on in October 31, 1947 in Dyer and was a 1965 graduate of Lake Central High School. He was a proud U.S. Army veteran and served during the Vietnam War. He retired from the Ford Motor Plant in Hegewisch after 31 years of service. Jerry enjoyed camping with his family and friends. He could fix just about anything, and was known as "Mr. Fix-it". Jerry was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend.
