Jewel Dean Boyer age 74, of Hammond, passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, August 9, 2014.
She is survived by 6 children:
Janett (William) Stout,
Andrew Smith, Jr., Stephen Smith, Melissa Smith,
Jeff (Mary) Smith,
Cynthia (Jason) Hinojosa;
7 step-children that she thought of as her own:
Victor, Robert, Patricia, Daniel, Ronald, Mark and Sandra Boyer;
Former husband of 26 years, Andrew Smith, Sr.;
23 Grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren;
brothers: William and Danny Evans;
sisters: Kay Talley and Deborah Anderson;
many nieces, nephews and dear friends.
Preceded in death by her husband, Victor Boyer;
son, Kenneth "Tony" Smith; mother, Mae Cooper;
brothers: David and Delmar Evans.
Memorial services will be held on Thursday, August 14, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Bocken Funeral Home, 7042 Kennedy Ave., Hammond (Hessville) with Pastor Scott Wells officiating. Friends are invited to meet with the family on Wednesday, August 13, 2014 at Bocken Funeral Home from 2:00 pm until 8:00 pm.
Jewel was born and raised in LaFollette, TN and has lived in Hammond since 1956. She had worked for Queen Anne Candy Co. in Hammond for over 32 years. Jewel was a longtime faithful member of Lighthouse Tabernacle Church of God where she taught Sunday School and Jr. Church. After the church closed she began attending Hammond First Assembly of God Church. She loved the Lord and enjoyed spending time reading her Bible. Jewel enjoyed gardening, coin collecting, reading and was a huge Elvis fan. She was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and dear friend who will be missed by all who knew her.
