Joan C. McWilliams, age 68 of Hammond was born on January 4, 1945 and entered into eternal life on Monday, March 4, 2013.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 45 years, Charles.
Joan was a loving mother to her 2 daughters, Lisa Writt and Jennifer McWilliams;
Proud grandma to her 4 grandchildren: Brittany Writt, Caitlyn Towner, Kira and Andrew Wilson;
2 sisters: Sharon Resa and Donna (John) Stenson;
1 brother, Stanley "Mac" Machusek;
3 nieces: Jaclyn, Rebecca and Jessica;
5 nephews: Ambrose, John, Paul, Michael and Richard; many cousins and a host of dear friends.
Preceded in death by her parents, Stanley and Josephine Machusek.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, March 9, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at Bocken Funeral Home, 7042 Kennedy Avenue, Hammond (Hessville).
Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in Calumet City.
Friends are invited to meet with the family on Friday, March 8th from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Bocken Funeral Home.
Joan was born and raised in Chicago and has been a resident of Hammond for over 50 years. She was a faithful parishioner at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church in Hammond. Joan was an avid reader, however "bingo" was her passion.  She worked at a casino as a slot machine attendant. She dearly loved her children and grandchildren, they were the joy of her life.  Joan loved life and lived her life to the fullest. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and a beloved friend to many.  Joan will best be remembered for her kindness toward others and her sweet spirit.
