John Woodrow Cruse, age 65, of Hammond, went to be with the Lord, peacefully on Tuesday, July 2, 2024, at his home with his wife by his side.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 36 years, Michelle R. Cruse (nee Powers); daughter, Carlie Rosalyn (William) Eastman; brother, Donald (Katherine) Cruse; numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and dear friends.
Preceded in death by his parents, Robert B. and Rosa Marie Cruse; sister, Margaret Faye; brother, Robert Neal; grandparents, aunts and uncles.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday, July 8, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. directly at Fellowship Church- Hammond, formerly Cornerstone Baptist Church and Orchard Drive Baptist Church, 3425 Orchard Drive, Hammond, Hessville with Pastor Joe Best officiating. Burial will follow at Memory Lane Cemetery in Crown Point. Friends are invited to meet with the family on Monday, morning, July 8, 2024, for a time of visitation from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at the church.
John has been a lifetime resident of the Calumet Area. He graduated from Morton High School in 1978 and married the love of his life on March 26, 1988. John is a member of Fellowship Church and was a long-time faithful member of Cornerstone Baptist Church, formerly Orchard Drive Baptist Church. Where John served as Chairman of Trustees, Deacon, Sunday School Teacher and in many other areas of leadership and ministry during his lifetime. He was a dedicated husband, father, brother, uncle, son and friend who leaves a legacy of demonstrating servant ministry not only in church but at home. John drove a school bus for Highland Christian School for over 15 years, until recently, when his health no longer allowed him to return. John will be dearly missed by all that have had the honor of knowing him and Michelle.
