John "Ivica" Galovic

John Galovic, age 70, of Griffith, entered into eternal life on Saturday, December 6, 2025.

He is survived by two sisters: Mary (late, Mato) Bicanic, Kathy (Mijo) Iveljic;  cousins, Linda Pfluger Mary Luburic, and Mark Galovic; niece, Renata Litteral, nephews;  Robert (Rhonda) Bicanic , Mark (Candice) Iveljic, and Mario (Mary Beth) Ivelic; numerous great nieces and one nephew and great great niece and two great great nephews and other relatives in the U.S., Croatia, Australia and Canada.

Preceded in death by his parents, John and Zora (nee Brckovic) Galovic, brother, Mark Galovic, sister Ana Filby,and brother-in-law, Mato Bicanic.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, December 13, 2025 at 12:00 p.m. at Bocken Funeral Home, 7042 Kennedy Avenue, Hammond (Hessville) with Father Stephen Bedenikovic O.F.M., officiating. Burial will follow at St. John Cemetery in Hammond. Friends are invited to meet with the family for a time of visitation on Saturday, December 13, 2025, from 8:30 a.m. until the service at 12:00 p.m.

John was born on Dember 28, 1954, in Croatia and moved to the United States in 1967. He was a 1973 graduate of Morton High School. He attended Sacred Heart Croatian Catholic Church in Chicago. John was a Carpenter by trade who worked in his own business and for many contractors in the Chicago area. He loved playing soccer and was a member of RWB ADRIA Croatian soccer club. He enjoyed watching all sports on television and was a Cubs, Bears and Bulls fan. John was a loving son, brother, uncle, cousin and loyal friend to many.
