John S. Karaffa, age 92, of Oroville, WA formerly of Hammond passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 17, 2012.
He is survived by his 2 sons: David Karaffa of Oroville, WA and Desmond Karaffa of Portland, OR;
2 grandsons: Kevin Karaffa of Dallas, TX and Brenden Karaffa of San Francisco,CA;
Numerous nieces and  nephews.
Preceded in death by his beloved wife of 67 years, Mary Irene Karaffa and his parents, John and Elizabeth Karaffa. Two sisters Betty Hulpa and Joann Mack.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, October 26, 2012 directly at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, , 7132 Arizona Avenue, Hammond (Hessville) with Rev. Charles Mosley celebrant. Burial will follow at St. John-St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Hammond. Friends are invited to meet with the family at the church on Friday morning from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the mass at 10:00 a.m.
John was born and raised in Hungary and had been a resident of the Hessville section of Hammond for over 50 years before moving in 2009 to Oroville, WA to be near his family. John was retired from Inland Steel after over 40 years of service, he was a longtime faithful member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church. He loved gardening, fishing, the Chicago Cubs and spending time with his family. John was a kind and loving man a devoted father and grandfather.
