John R. Kulesa age 91, of Hammond passed away on Wednesday, January 3, 2024 surrounded by his loved ones.
John is survived by his 3 children: Kevin (Kathy) Kulesa, Mary (Mark) Landry and Tim (Joleen) Kulesa; grandchildren: Michelle, Matthew, and Marinda Landry and Paul and Hannah Kulesa; along with many nieces, nephews, and special nephew, Thomas Jayjack.
John was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Bernadine T. Kulesa (nee Zygowicz) and parents, Jan and Mary Kulesa, siblings: Louise Jayjack, Andrew Kulesa, Minnie Kasenga, Pearl Janiga.
Friends are invited to join the family for visitation on Monday, January 8, 2024 from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church 7132 Arizona Ave. Hammond, IN 46323. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Charles Mosley Celebrant. Burial to follow at St. John Cemetery, Hammond, IN.
John was a lifetime resident of the Calumet Area and a 1950 graduate of East Chicago Roosevelt High School. He was a parishoner of OLPH for 64 years and a veteran of the U.S. Army. John retired as a foreman after 42 years from American Steel Foundries. John was a faithful, honest, and Godly man who enjoyed fishing, hunting, woodworking, gardening, and giving away his vegetables to family and friends. John was always concerned about others well-being before his own and always remembered friends and family with cards. He was an avid follower of the Chicago White Sox and Purdue Sports. In lieu of flowers, memorials to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or charity of choice would be preferred.
