John M. Lukacek

John M. Lukacek, age 78, entered the gates of Heaven on Sunday, March 3, 2013 to join his beloved wife of 49 years, Lucille Marie (nee, Walczak) Lukacek. He was born on July 15, 1934 has been a lifetime resident of Hammond and a graduate of Bishop Noll High School, class of 1952. July of 1952 he entered the Army Air Corps and proudly served his country during the Korean Conflict. Afterward, he returned home to work at Inland Steel as a general foreman.
He was preceded in death by his sons: John F. and Christopher J. Lukacek; parents, John and Anna Lukacek and sister, Anna Mae Pieszchala.
Left to cherish his memory his 3 children:
Mark (Tammy) Lukacek,
Timothy Lukacek and Mary Lukacek;
4 grandchildren: Felicia Long, Andrew Lukacek,
Mark and Matthew Lukacek;
2 sisters: Elizabeth Lukacek and Dorothy Mravinac;
numerous nieces, nephews and dear friends.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, March 8, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at Bocken Funeral Home, 7042 Kennedy Avenue, Hammond (Hessville). Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in Calumet City, IL. Friends are invited to meet with the family on Thursday, March 7th from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Bocken Funeral Home. American Legion Post #232 will conduct a service at 7:00 p.m.
John was a member of American Legion Post #232,whose members will conduct services in the funeral home at 7pm Thursday. V.F.W. Post #7881, Hessville Eagles and Calumet Ridge Moose Lodge #1258. John was a fan of the Chicago Bears and Blackhawks and a die-hard fan of the Cubs, "Go Cubbies".
He enjoyed fishing, bowling and watching sports with his friends and family. John was a kind and loving father, brother and friend who will be dearly missed.
