John P. (Jack) Mahoney

Apache Junction, AZ/Hammond, IN

John P. (Jack) Mahoney, age 77, formerly of Hammond, passed away peacefully at home in Apache Junction, AZ with his loving wife at his side on April 9, 2014.

Jack was born on April 13, 1936 to John P. (Pat) and Thelma Mahoney, who preceded him in death.

He is survived by his adored wife of over 53 years, Bernadine (Kielbasa) Mahoney;

Daughters: Barbara (Jesse) Rincon of Denver, CO,

Ann-Marie (Steve) Grietens, granddaughter, Jessica and great grandson, Phoenix all of St. Augustine, FL;

Brothers: James of Apache Junction, AZ and Gregory (Doreen) of Snoqualmie, WA;

Brother-in-law, Edward (Darlene) Kielbasa of Hammond, IN;

many loving nieces, nephews and other relatives and dear friends.

Jack was a graduate of Bishop Noll class of 1954, served in the U.S. Army, and retired from Inland Steel after 39 years in the Main Roll Shop. He enjoyed golfing, the great outdoors and traveling. He passed on his love of travel to his daughters. Jack was a member of St. George Parish in Apache Junction, AZ. He always had a story to share, a joke to tell and a friend old or new to meet. He lived a full wonderful life with his love, Bernie and will be missed by all who had the pleasure to know him. Jack had requested he be cremated and a Mass be held to celebrate his life. Mass will be said on Saturday, May 24, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 525 N. Broad Street, Griffith, IN, with Rev. Theodore J. Mens, celebrant.
