John Edward Moffitt, age 86, of Hammond went home to meet his Lord and Savior on Saturday, June 6, 2015.
He is survived by his beloved Children; Linda (Alan) Pue, Peggy (Earl) Chantlos, Paul (Pam) Moffitt and Mark (Jackie) Moffitt; daughter in-law Diana (late Glen); 13 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; sister in law, Doris (James) Parker and numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by his loving wife Wanda Diane Moffitt; one son Glen Moffitt, his parents, John and Lizzie Moffitt, four brothers and three sisters.
Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, June 10, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. at Bocken Funeral Home, 7042 Kennedy Avenue, Hammond (Hessville) with Rev. James Thomson and Dr. Alan Pue officiating. Private burial will follow at Chapel Lawn Cemetery in Schererville. Friends are invited to meet with the family at Bocken Funeral Home for a time of visitation on Wednesday afternoon from 12:00 noon until the time of the service at 1:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Chapel Lawn Cemetery, Schererville, IN.
John was born and raised in Ledford, IL and moved to the Hammond area in 1945. John was a member of Covenant Presbyterian Church. He worked at Sinclair/ARCO for 34 years and Stauffer Chemical Company for 10 years. John loved music, traveling with good friends and spending time with his family. He loved the Lord and was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made in favor of The Barnabas Group 7692 Bristolwood Drive, Castle Pines, CO. 80108 of which he was a faithful supporter since 2001.
