John Serafin, age 87, of Hessville passed away peacefully on Friday, November 12, 2010.
He is survived by his son; John Serafin
and Jeff and Jerry Troutwine

Sister: Antionette Serafin of Lansing, IL

Preceded in death by his beloved wife of 43 years; Genell M. (nee, Fiscus) Serafin, parents, sisters; Helen Redell, Sophie Vucsenic, Mary Serafin, Janie Putzell, Julie Karling and Florence Harrell, brothers; Joseph and Stanley Serafin.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday, November 15, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at Bocken Funeral Home, 7042 Kennedy Avenue, Hammond (Hessville). Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery in Hammond.
Friends are invited to meet with the family on Sunday, November 14 th from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. at Bocken Funeral Home.
Born and raised in Burnham, Il, a former member of St. Florian Catholic Church John has lived in the Hessville section of Hammond since 1965. He was a proud U.S. Army Veteran and served his country during WWII as a Medic in Alaska and in Siberia. He was a life member of V.F.W. Post #7881. John retired in 1975 from Calumet Breweries after working for 38 years. He was also a member of Teamsters Local #142. John took an active role in the rearing of his son, he was an Assistant Cub Master for the Cub Scouts in Calumet City. He was a very caring and loving father.
