John  Arnold Snyder, age 84, a long time Minister of the First Christian Church of Hessville, peacefully went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday August 2, 2013.
He is survived by his devoted wife of  63 years, Connie Snyder (Nee Starks );
Four loving children: Randy (Annie) Snyder, Sandra (Eugene) Batchelar, James (Robin) Snyder, and Cathy (Felix) Weber.
Seven wonderful grandchildren: Elizabeth (Colby) Holland, Jonathan and Ben Snyder, Brandon Batchelar, Justin Snyder, Jessica (Chris) Ackerman and Rachel Snyder.
Four great grandchildren: Liana and Brayden Ackerman  and Charlie and Claire Holland,
Siblings Barbara (Ken) Hutzler and Norma Phelps.
Numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, cousins and a host of dear friends.
Preceded in death by his parents Arnold and Ethel Snyder, and younger brother Ted Snyder.
Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, August 6, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. DIRECTLY at First Christian Church of Hessville, 6805 Alabama Aveneue, Hammond (Hessville) with Dan Nichols, officiating. Burial will follow at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens, Schererville.
Friends are invited to meet with the family at First Christian Church on Monday, August 5,2013 from 2pm until 8pm and on Tuesday morning from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m.
John Snyder was a long time resident of the Calumet Area and served the Hessville community and the City of Hammond for many years. He recently retired from First Christian Church  in 2001 as Minister after 42 years and became their Minister emeritus. John loved God,  his family and his life calling to be a Minister brought him great joy. He played piano and guitar, loved to sing. Teaching and preaching allowed him to touch, bless, encourage and even transform the lives of countless others. Travels to the Holy Land, Hawaii and all over the USA enriched his life and his faith. His Grandchildren and four great grandchildren were his legacy and his delight. John was a very loving husband, devoted father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend who will be dearly missed.  He was a person who could always be counted on.
