John E. Thrall, age 75, of Munster, entered into the gates of Heaven on Sunday, April 27, 2014.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years, Martha Thrall, (nee Baize);
2 sons: James "Jim" (Jennifer Ballas) Thrall and
Terry (Barbie Cook) Thrall;
11 grandchildren;
2 great granddaughters;
2 sisters: Jane (Wade) Knorr and Julia (Paul) Bramer;
sister-in-law, Nancy Ball;
beloved dog and constant companion, "Cotton";
several nieces, nephews and a host of dear friends.
Preceded in death his parents, Elmer and Grace Thrall and granddaughter, Renee Thrall.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, May 3, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. directly at First Baptist Church Main Auditorium, 473 Sibley St., Hammond with at time of viewing from 10:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Pastor John Wilkerson will officiate at the service. Burial will follow at Memory Lane Memorial Park in Crown Point. Friends are invited to meet with the family on Friday, May 2nd at Bocken Funeral Home, 7042 Kennedy Avenue, Hammond (Hessville) from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. There will be a time of viewing at the church from 10:30 a.m. until the service at 11:00 a.m.
John was born on July 28, 1938 in Hammond, and was a 1956 graduate of Hammond Tech High School. While in high school he lettered in singing and won several awards.
John has been a faithful member of First Baptist Church since 1960 and has blessed many with his rich tenor voice. He loved children and for over 50 years was a devoted worker in the Primary Church Department. John loved the Lord and shared his faith with others whenever he could.
He was a wonderful husband and a loving and devoted father and grandfather who will be dearly missed.
