Johnny "John" R, Weir passed away on December 31, 2022, after a brief illness.  He was surrounded by loving members of his family.  John was a beloved and devoted husband of 46 years, a loving father and grandfather.  John was a United States Army veteran, he was stationed in Korea and Germany from 1964-1967. John's interests included reading, keeping up with current events and gardening, especially flowers, playing with his various pet dogs, and being "grandpa", John worked as a millwright in the steel mills for over forty years, retiring in 2008.

He is survived by his loving wife Karen (nee Wells); son James (Tina) of Hammond; grandson Anthony of Hammond; brother Ron (Deb) of Naperville, IL; and sister Donna (Phil) Lewis of Valparaiso, IN; also surviving are three sisters-in-law, a brother-in-law and several nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.

John was preceded in death by his mother and father, Wanda and James Weir; his step-mother, Martha Weir; son, Michael Weir; mother and father-in-law Esther and Walter Wells.
