Joseph R. Carroll, Jr., age 62, of Hammond, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, January 29, 2016 after battling cancer.
He is survived by his loving wife, Susan (Frain/Rzeszut) Carroll; one son, Joseph (Hilary) Carroll of Madison, WI; daughter, Vanessa Carroll of Valparaiso;

grandson, Cameron Carroll of Valparaiso; sister, Janet (Tommy) Gasperson of Merrillville; brothers: Kevin and Keith Carroll of Flower Mound, TX; sisters-in-law:

Rozanne Carroll of Griffith, Shari (Olan) Materson of Ireland and Mary Galbraith of California;

former wife, Mary (O'Hara) Carroll; numerous step-children/grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Preceded in death by his father, Joseph R. Carroll, Sr.; mother, Elsie (Carroll) Romesburg; brother, Robert Carroll and sister-in-law, Heidi Carroll.

Joe was a lifetime resident of the Calumet Area and a 1972 graduate of East Chicago Roosevelt High School. He retired from Arcelor Mittal and Ameristar Casino in East Chicago.

Friends are invited to meet with the family for a Memorial Visitation on Monday, February 1, 2016 at Bocken Funeral Home, 7042 Kennedy Avenue, Hammond (Hessville) from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Private burial services will be held at a later time.

In lieu of flowers the family request that memorials be made in Joe's name to the charity of your choice or to Hospice of the Calumet.
