Joseph L. Grabarczyk, age 66 of Hammond passed away suddenly on Tuesday, January 10, 2023.

Joseph is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Karen Lee Grabarczyk (nee Gaddy); two sons: Joseph L. Grabarczyk Jr. and Jake Patrick Grabarczyk; two grandchildren: Joseph L. Grabarczyk III and Athena Rose Grabarczyk; one brother, John F. (Jean) Grabarczyk; several nieces, nephews and friends.

Joseph is preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Marie Grabarczyk; grandson, Hunter J. Grabarczyk; two brothers: James and Richard Grabarczyk II.

Friends are invited to join the family for a memorial visitation on Friday, January 20, 2023 at Bocken Funeral Home 7042 Kennedy Avenue, Hammond, (Hessville) from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Military Honors will be offered at 3:30 p.m.

Joe was born in Chicago, IL and served our country as a Hull Technician 3rd Class aboard the USS Trenton in the US Navy. He married the love of his life in 1985 and they settled into Hessville in 1989.  Joe was a stationary engineer at Shirley Ryan Ability Lab, (formerly Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago) since 1987 and was a member of IUOE Local 399. Joe was an avid angler, there's nothing he loved more than fishing with his boys and grandkids. He also enjoyed playing billiards and "supervising" Karen in their garden. He found much joy in the time spent with his family and was a dedicated husband, father and grandfather.  In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to American Association for Cancer Research at www.aacr.org.
