Joe Simon, age 86 of East Chicago, passed away peacefully on Friday September 17, 2010 at the Hammond-Whiting Care Center.
He is survived by his beloved care giver and dear friend of many years, Katy Miksich of Hammond.
Preceded in death by his parents Menbart and Elizabeth Simon. One sister Emma and Brother in law Earl Powell. Funeral Service will be held Wednesday September 22, 2010 at 10am DIRECTLY at Faith United Church of Christ 3030-175th Street, Hammond. Followed by burial at Elmwood Cemetery, Hammond . Friends are invited to meet with the family at Bocken Funeral Home on Tuesday, September 21st from 4pm to 6pm. There will also be a time of viewing on Wednesday at Faith United Church of Christ from 9.15am until the time of the service at 10am.
Joe was a lifetime resident of East Chicago and a longtime faithful member of Faith United Church of Christ. He was retired after working many years for Union Carbide Corporation. Joe was a good hearted, religious and patriotic man, he read his bible regularly and proudly displayed his American Flag. He loved flowers and worked hard around his house.
