Joseph Zulaski, age 95, of Hammond entered into the presence of the Lord on Thursday, March 15, 2012.
He is survived by his children, June "Babe" (John) Best and Joseph (Rosie) Zulaski;
5 grandchildren: Debra Zoppetti, Johnny (Nora) Best, Eddie Zamarron, Robert Zulaski and Ryan (Blanca) Zulaski;
5 great grandchildren: Speed Best, Joe (Faith) Best, Nick Zoppetti, Anthony Zoppetti and Jacob Zamarron;
one great great grandchild, Claire; numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by his cherished wife of 51 years, June Zulaski, (nee, Wagner); parents, Roger and Mary Zulaski; 4 sisters and 4 brothers.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, March 20, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at Bocken Funeral Home, 7042 Kennedy Avenue, Hammond, (Hessville) with Pastor Joe Best officiating. Burial to follow at Elmwood Cemetery in Hammond. Friends are invited to meet with the family on Monday, March 19th from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Bocken Funeral Home.
Joe was born and raised in Hayward, WI and moved to Hammond in 1938. He was a proud WWII U.S. Army veteran. Joe worked as a meat cutter for the A&P Foods in Blue Island, IL and retired in 1979 after 42 years of service. He was a member of Local #540 of the meat cutters union. Joe was a hard worker, the youngest of 9 children he enjoyed spending his summers in Hayward, WI. "Grandpa Joe" was a gentle, kind, caring man with a good sense of humor, who leaves behind 5 generations to mourn his loss.
