Josephine "June" Werner, age 94, of Hammond, entered into the gates of Heaven on Friday, December 9, 2016.

She is survived by her three sons: James (Louise) Werner, Dennis (Brenda) Werner and Doug (Peggy) Werner; seven grandchildren: Leeanna (Mike) Holmes, Gordon, Jennifer, Rebecca, Michael, Angela and David Werner; two great grandchildren: Greyson and twin Bronwyn Holmes and many friends.

Preceded in death by her parents, Felix and Helen Buczynski and three sisters.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 15, 2016 at 7 p.m. at Bocken Funeral Home, 7042 Kennedy Avenue, Hammond (Hessville) with Rev. John P. Kowalczyk Jr. officiating. Burial will be private at St. Michael Cemetery in Hammond.

Friends are invited to meet with the family for a time of visitation on Thursday from 1 p.m. until 6 p.m. at Bocken Funeral Home.

June was born and raised East Chicago. She was a graduate of East Chicago Roosevelt H.S. class of 1940.  A former member of the Elks Lodge of East Chicago, the Independent Order of Foresters and during WWII she was a WOW, working at Blaw-Knox as assistant to the superintendent. June was a long time faithful member of St. Michael the Archangel National Catholic Church. She will be remembered by many for her friendliness at the Hammond license branch of the DMV where she worked for over 33 years. June loved spending time her children and grandchildren. She was a very loving and devoted mother, grandma, great grandma and friend who will be dearly missed by all who knew her. In lieu of flowers memorials to her church would be preferred; St. Michael the Archangel National Catholic Church, 6629 W. 133rd Avenue, Cedar Lake, IN 46303.
