Joyce J. Hrycak, age 76, of Crown Point and Valparaiso passed away on Saturday, December 29, 2018.

She is survived by two children: Twila Hobson and Gerald (Debbie) Fulkerson; grandchildren: Tonya Fulkerson Wilson, Thomas Hobson, (Jen) Hobson, Shane Ward, Blake Rivett and special niece and nephew whom she helped raise: Crystal and Rex Eckman; three brothers: Bobby (Sandy) Atchison, George Atchison and Kevin Atchison; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Preceded in death by her beloved husband of 44 years, John R. Hrycak on September 16, 2018; parents; Carl Backus and Ruth Lindsey; two brothers: Paul Achison, Duane Backus; two sisters: Charolette Eckman and Linda Belk .

Joyce was born in Terre Haute, IN on June 27, 1942. She was a retired real estate broker. Joyce enjoyed the outdoors, gardening and watching the animals. She adored her grandchildren, and was a huge fan of Elvis Presley. Joyce was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend who will be dearly missed.

A service will be held on Friday, January 4, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. directly at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery, (in the cemetery chapel) 8178 Cline Avenue, Schererville, IN 46307.  Bocken Funeral Home, 7042 Kennedy Avenue, Hammond (Hessville) entrusted with arrangements.
