Juan Casas, Jr. age 73, of Highland, was ushered into the arms of God on Tuesday, August 27, 2013.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 50 years, Alicia Casas (Nee Vasquez);
2 sons: Antonio (Linda) Casas, and Daniel (fiancé, Beatrice) Casas;
three beautiful granddaughters: Megan, Nicole and Faith; brother, Macedonio (Martha) Casas;
sister, Isidra (Luis) Herrera and sister-in-law Linda Casas;
numerous nieces, nephews and dear friends.
Preceded in death by his son, Juan Casas, III; his parents, Juan, Sr. and Rosa; brother, Guadalupe Casas.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, August 31, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. directly at Life Point Church, 7350 Kennedy Avenue, Hammond (Hessville) with Pastor Orlando Solar officiating. Friends are invited to meet with the family on Friday, August 30, 2013 at Bocken Funeral Home, 7042 Kennedy Avenue, Hammond (Hessville) from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. There will also be a time of viewing at the church on Saturday morning from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Ridgelawn Cemetery in Gary.
Juan was a born in Mc Allen, Texas on May 20,1940 and was a longtime resident of the Calumet Area. He retired from Inland Steel after working for 40 years in the #3 coal strip temper mill. Juan was a faithful member of Life Point Church. He enjoyed playing the accordion and was a devoted musician for the Lord. Juan was a dedicated Christian who served his Lord and others in the Vision Ministry; faithfully playing his according in Nursing Homes. He loved Tejano's music (Polka's). Juan was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother who will be dearly missed.
