Judith A. Schallenkamp, age 82, of Hammond entered into the presence of the Lord on Tuesday, March 19, 2024.

She is survived by her three loving children: Dan (Robin) Schallenkamp, Susan (Dan) Cochrane, Bob (Aimee) Schallenkamp; five grandchildren: Daniel Cochrane, Brandon Schallenkamp, Anna Cochrane, Lindsey Schallenkamp and Morgan Schallenkamp; sister in-law, Carole Dowling; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, and friends, including lifelong friend Mary Ellen Federenko.

Preceded in death by her devoted husband of 61 years, Robert E. Schallenkamp on June 30, 2023; son, Timothy Schallenkamp, parents: John and Mary Dowling; and one brother, John Dowling.

Friends are invited to join the family for a time of visitation on Sunday, March 24, 2024, from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Bocken Funeral Home, 7042 Kennedy Avenue, Hammond IN 46323. A prayer service will be held on Sunday at 6:00 p.m. in the Funeral Home. Funeral Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated DIRECTLY at St. James the Less Catholic Church, 9640 Kennedy Avenue, Highland, IN on Monday March 25, 2024, with viewing from 10:00 AM until the Mass at 10:30 AM with Father Gregory Bim-Merle celebrant. Private cremation will follow and inurnment at St. John Cemetery, Hammond.

Judy was born in East Chicago and raised in Hammond, where she graduated from Morton High School in the class of 1959. She and Bob were former parishioners of St. Catherine of Siena and longtime Parishioners of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church. Judy helped with Bingo at OLPH for several years. She and Bob were always supportive and ready to lend a hand to their neighbors and friends. A special thanks to Suzie Bach, Rose Stabolito, and Pearl Zavala for their cherished friendship. Judy enjoyed the time spent in their vacation home in Bradenton, FL. Judy devoted herself to her husband and family.
