Julia "Judy"Lannin, age 88, of Hammond, IN, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 1, 2012. She joins in heaven her beloved husband of 67 years, William W. "Bill" Lannin and parents, Frank and Anne Mathews She is survived by seven children – the 7 "Cs": Carolyn "Carol" (David) Moore, Munster; Constance Lannin, Hammond; Dr. W. Craig (Dr. Janani) Lannin, Redding, CA; Chris Lannin, Hammond; Charice (Randy) Salach, St. John; Cary (Christine) Lannin, Griffith; Cathleen (Douglas) Main, Fayetteville, GA; 16 Grandchildren: Jill (Greg) Mirise, Doug (Samantha) Moore, Owen Moore, Archana, Natasha & Michael Lannin, Stacy (Jeremiah Laird) Lannin, Shawn Lannin, Rachel (David) Parks, Rebecca (Wesley) Smith, Renee Salach, Aaron & Kelly Lannin, Natalie, Wil & Ryan Main;
9 Great-Grandchildren: Cameron Salach-Haryasz; Ashlyn & Gabrielle Mirise; Hailey Lannin; Arianna & Dominic Soco; Liam Moore; Molly Moore; and Parker Smith;
Judy was one of 11 children in her family: 7 brothers: late, Frank (late, June) Mathews, late, Denis (Rose) Mathews, late, James (late, Mary) Mathews, late. George (Geneva) Mathews, Charles (Betsy) Mathews, late, Robert (late, Joan) Matthews, and late, David (late, Lorraine) Mathews; 3 sisters: late, Martha Mathews, late, Anne (late, Hedley) Lewis, late, Mary Lou (late, Vern) Hildebrandt and many nieces & nephews.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday December 8, 2012 with prayers at 9:.30a.m .from Bocken Funeral Home, 7042 Kennedy Avenue, Hammond (Hessville) to Our Lady Of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, 7132 Arizona Avenue, Hammond for Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. with Father Steve Kosinski celebrant. Burial will follow at Calumet Park Cemetery, Merrillville, IN.
Friends are invited to meet with the family at Bocken Funeral Home on Friday, December 7th from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. There will be a prayer service on Friday evening at 5:30 p.m.
Judy was a lifetime resident of Hammond, and a longtime faithful parishioner of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church and member of the Rosary Society. She worked as a secretary for the Lake County Dept. of Welfare and retired in 1989. Judy was devoted to her family,she was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and sister and will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
