Kenneth R. Carman, age 80, of Hammond, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 3, 2014.

He joins in heaven his wife of 52 years, Ruth Arlene Carman

He is survived by

4 children: Laurie Zart,

Martha (Hector) Rivera,

Monica (Neil) Welch,

Robert (Kimberly) Carman;

9 Grandchildren: Michael, Aaron, Joshua, Cassandra, Christopher, Blake, Tyler, Seth and Connor;

3 great grandchildren;

1 sister: Luwanda Inboden;

Numerous nieces, nephews and dear friends.

Preceded in death by his parents, George and Jennie Carman; son-in-law, Scott Zart;

brother, Earl Carman and brother in law Keith Inboden.

Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, August 6, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at Bocken Funeral Home, 7042 Kennedy Avenue, Hammond (Hessville) with Pastor Robert Carman officiating. Burial will follow at Ridgelawn Cemetery in Gary. Friends are invited to meet with the family on Tuesday, August 5, 2014 for a time of visitation at Bocken Funeral Home from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.

Ken was born and raised in Kentucky but spent the most part of his life in Northwest Indiana. He was retired from Blaw-Knox where he was a crane operator. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and working in his yard and gardening as well as watching Wheel of Fortune and the news.

Ken was a very loving and devoted husband, father, grandpa, great grandpa and brother who will be dearly missed.
