Laverne Casey, age 89, of Hammond, entered into her heavenly home on Saturday, July 1, 2017.

She was the loving mother of Ronald D. Casey, Debra J. (Robert) Evers and Janice E. (John) Turner; daughter-in –law Sandra Casey; adored grandmother of twelve: Christine (John) Trout, Janet (Mark) Jackson, William Carey (Bevin) Casey, Beth Casey, Erin (Brady) Oxender, Megan (Ryan) Martin, Scott (Patricia) Evers, Steven (Kristy) Evers, Angela (Kevin) Peardon, Joshua (Jessica) Turner, Lisa (Matthew) Ferry, Sara Turner; and great grandmother of twenty-five.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 62 years, Guy Casey, Jr.; one son, William H. Casey and three great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 7, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at Bocken Funeral Home, 7042 Kennedy Avenue, Hammond (Hessville) with Pastor William Gibbs officiating. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery in Hammond. Friends are invited to meet with the family for a time of visitation on Thursday, July 6th from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Bocken Funeral Home.

Laverne was born and raised in Southern Illinois. She made Hammond her home in the 1950's. Laverne was a dedicated Christian, a faithful member of Orchard Drive Baptist Church; where she taught Sunday School and Bible School for many years. She loved reading her Bible and spending time with her family. Laverne was an inspiration to many young and old, and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
