LaVerne Hopp, age 94, of Hammond, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 30, 2014.
She is survived by one daughter, Charrie Flitar;
4 Grandchildren: Tina Collins,
Patrick Hopp,
Julie (Bruce) Christopher,
Jodie Hopp;
4 Great Grandchildren: Liam and Taylor Collins;
Rose Spencer and Tori Christopher;
Sister-in-law and childhood friend, Lorraine Hopp;
Dear friend and "Lunch Buddy", Elaine Glad;
Faithful companion, her Bichon Frise, "Lucky";
Many nieces, nephews and dear friends.
Preceded in death by her beloved husband, Roland F. Hopp; son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Pam Hopp; granddaughter, Marianne Bias;
Son-in-law, Sam Flitar;
parents, Thomas and Olive Adelsperger;
sister, Lorraine (Ben) Ready.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 4, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. directly at Concordia Lutheran Church, 7441 Grand Avenue, Hammond (Hessville)
with Rev. Ronald Saatkamp officiating. Burial will follow at Concordia Cemetery in Hammond. Friends are invited to meet with the family for a time of visitation on Wednesday, December 3, 2014 at Bocken Funeral Home, 7042 Kennedy Avenue, Hammond (Hessville) from 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.
There will be viewing at the church on Thursday morning from 9:30 a.m. until 10:00 a.m.
Dot was born and raised in Hessville. She was a lifetime, devoted member of Concordia Lutheran Church.
She was very active at her church and in her community.
Dot loved baking and cooking for her family and friends. She enjoyed gardening and growing beautiful flowers; and going fishing every spring in Paulding, Michigan.
Dot worked for Sears in River Oaks for over 25 years.
She was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, great grandmother and dear friend who will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
Memorials may be made to Concordia Lutheran Church or Hospice of the Calumet.
