Lee Roy Boyer, age 99, of Hammond passed away on Sunday, September 4, 2016, while surrounded by his loving family.
He is survived by one daughter: Sandra Boyer; three sons: Robert (Martha) , Kenneth (Debra) and Ronald (Catherine) Boyer; six grandchildren: Tracy, Kyle, Jason (Samantha D.), Melissa, LeeAnne and Ryan Boyer; one sister: Pearl (Jim) Bocken; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and friends.
Preceded in death by his wife of 37 years Edith M. Boyer; parents Cevero and Anna Boyer and numerous siblings.
Funeral service will be held on Thursday, September 8, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at Bocken Funeral Home 7042 Kennedy Avenue, Hammond (Hessville) with Kenny Adney, officiating. Burial will follow at Chapel Lawn Cemetery, Schererville, IN. Friends are invited to meet with the family on Wednesday, September 7, 2016 for a time of visitation from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Bocken Funeral Home.
Lee was a resident of the Hammond area for the past 75 years. He was a proud Army veteran of WWII where he earned the European-African-Middle Eastern service medal, 2 bronze battle stars, a purple heart with silver cluster and an overseas service bar. Lee was retired from Crown Core Fabrication as a machinist. He loved spending time at his lake home, fishing and being with his family. Lee was a big St. Louis Cardinal fan. He was a loving devoted father, grandfather, brother and friend who will be dearly missed.
