Leon Townley, age 90, of Hammond, IN entered into eternal life on Tuesday, April 22, 2025.

He is survived by grandchild, Ashley Ann Townley; sister-in-law, Judy Vandersteen; brother-in-law, Jerry Storey; nieces, Rhonda (Jeff) Wilson, Cammie Benson and Kelly Storey Richardson; nephew in-law Garner Billingsley, and nephew, Robert Townley. Caring neighbors and friends, Josh (Josalyne) Medina.

Preceded in death by his beloved wife of 64 years: Joyce Townley; parents: Fred and Pernie Townley; son, Richard Townley; daughter, Leona Kay Townley, brother in-law, Bill Vandersteen, nieces: Colleen Billingsley and Tara Storey.

Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, April 29, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Bocken Funeral Home 7042 Kennedy Avenue, Hammond, IN. Friends are invited to meet with the family on Tuesday morning from 10:00 a.m. until the service. Burial to follow at Elmwood Cemetery, Hammond.

Leon was born in Jasper, Alabama but was a long-time resident of the region. He retired from Ford Motor Company after 30 years as an assembly line worker. In retirement, he found joy in staying active—whether tinkering around the house, gardening, caring for his cats or tending to projects big and small. However, his greatest joy came from traveling alongside his beloved late wife, Joyce.
