Obituary

Linda Jane Peters (née Vezmar), born August 8, 1951, entered into the presence of the Lord on October 22, 2026, at the age of 75.

She is survived by her daughters, Melanie Peters, Rebekah Caldwell, Sarah Peters, and Ruth Northcutt; two grandsons, Troy and Mason Jablonski; her brother, Rudy Vezmar; and three nephews, Paul, John, and Brandon Vezmar. She is preceded in death by her husband, Lynn Peters; her twin, Laurie Jean Vezmar; and her parents, Rudolph and Margaret Vezmar.

Born and raised in Hammond, Indiana, Linda graduated from Hammond High School. For 32 years, she worked at the Hammond Public Library, where her coworkers were very much like family. She was a faithful member of Hessville Bible Church, where she enjoyed singing. From a young age, she taught herself to play the piano and loved playing and singing church hymns, especially with her late husband, who played the harmonica.

Linda enjoyed listening to Motown classics, watching reruns of I Love Lucy, and playing Skee-Ball. She was also a huge fan of eating local Lake Perch with a side of lemon rice soup and Pepsi. Every time her family visited from out of town, they knew they had to bring her a bag of Garrett's Buttery popcorn (or else). She was eagerly awaiting the birth of her grandson, Myles Edward Elliott, and the family finds comfort knowing she was thinking of him with joy.

Linda will be remembered for her unwavering faith and her love for her family. Her family takes comfort knowing she is at peace.

The family plans to hold a Celebration of Life at Hessville Bible Church in Hammond, Indiana, in March 2027. Details will be available from the church at 219-844-8900 beginning in late February 2027.
