Lois Grace Blessing, age 88 of Hammond, entered the gates of Heaven on Tuesday, August 23, 2011.
She is survived by her loving husband of 69 years, Warren G. Blessing;
daughter, Carol Thompson of Oxford, MI;
son, Robert (Gayle) Blessing of Griffith;
4 grandchildren: Denise McMaken, Elizabeth (Eric) Schultz, Dr. Robert (Kristin) Blessing and Michelle Blessing;
4 great grandchildren: Samuel and Nathan McMaken, Benjamin and Madelyn Schultz;
lifetime, dear friend, Tish Glasgow;
numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by her parents, George and Mabel McCausland; grandson, Steven Thompson; 2 brothers and 2 sisters.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, August 27, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. directly at Covenant Presbyterian Church, 6709 Arizona Avenue, (Hessville) Hammond with Pastor James A. Thomson officiating. There will be a time of viewing Saturday morning at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 10:30 a.m.Private burial to follow. Friends are invited to meet with the family on Friday, August 26th at Bocken Funeral Home, 7042 Kennedy Avenue, (Hessville) Hammond from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m..
Lois was born and raised on the south east side of Chicago and was a resident Hammond for 65 years . Lois was a faithful member of Covenant Presbyterian Church. She was a member of the "Golden Girls". She loved to cook and work in her garden and was a "genius" at cross word puzzles.
Her family was her number one priority. Lois was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and a dear and loyal friend to many.
