Lola C. Dankanich, age 91, of Hammond, entered into the presence of her Lord and Savior on Thursday, June 5, 2025.

She is survived by two daughters: Dr. Ruth (Rev. David) Daumer and Marie (Robert) Ellis; three granddaughters: Mary Elizabeth (Steven) Fyfe, Anna Marie Catherine Daumer, and Katia Ellis; grandson, Trent Ellis; three great grandchildren: Isla Fyfe, Sidney Fyfe, and Wesley Fyfe; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends and beloved pets.

Lola was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, Michael Dankanich; parents, Ernest and Amelia Plath; and one brother, Bruce (Sandy) Plath.

Friends are invited to join the family for a time of visitation on Friday, June 13, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church 8601 Harrison Ave. Munster, IN 46321. Funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Peter Speckhard officiating. Internment at Concordia Lutheran Cemetery, Hammond will follow after the luncheon.

Lola was a longtime resident of the Region and a faithful parishioner of St. Paul's Lutheran Church where she served on the Lutheran Woman's Missionary League and enjoyed the Woman's Bible Study group. Lola was a talented artist of landscapes and portraits.

Lola was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend who will be fondly remembered for her patience, sweet disposition, love of nature and all creatures great and small, as well as a willingness to help others. She was always there when you needed her and will be greatly missed.

In lieu of flowers/plants, preferred memorials include: Lutheran Hour Ministries, St. Paul's Lutheran Church, and Best Friends Animal Sanctuary.
