Lonnie Francis Vandiver
Hammond

Lonnie Francis Vandiver, age 95, of Hammond, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 11, 2014.
Survived by his children: Ray (Janice) Vandiver and Donna (Jeff) Halon;
5 grandchildren: Lonnie (Diane) Vandiver,
Angel (Greg) Robertson,
Joy Vandiver,
Jacob and Amber Halon;
8 great grandchildren;
6 great great grandchildren;
Sister, Betty Taylor;
Numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and dear friends.
Preceded in death by his beloved wife of 42 years, Estelle Vandiver; parents, Henry and Addie Vandiver and numerous siblings.
A Memorial Service to celebrate the life of Lonnie Vandiver will be held on Wednesday, January 15, 2014 at 6:30 p.m. at Bocken Funeral Home, 7042 Kennedy Avenue, Hammond (Hessville). Friends may meet with the family on Wednesday, January 15th from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. A private burial service will be held at Chapel Lawn Cemetery in Schererville at a later date.
Lonnie was a resident of the Hessvile section of Hammond since 1954. He retired from Youngstown Sheet & Tube after working for over 20 years as a painter. Lonnie loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and sports, however baseball was his favorite. His passion in life was watching his favorite team, the Chicago Cubs play. "Go Cubbies"!
