Lora Faye Pondo, age 73, of Hammond passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 17, 2011.
She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Edward Pondo;
son, Thomas Pondo; 2 daughters: Linda O'Connor and Barbara Blade;
6 grandsons: Travis and Craig Kowal, Malcolm O'Connor, Ryan, Adam and Zane Blade;
4 sisters: Sue Guthrie, Judy Nolan, Betty Johns and Faye Walker; numerous nieces, nephews and dear friends.
Preceded in death by her parents, Elberton and Flora Miller; step-father, Johnny Walker; brother, Burt Miller; 2 sisters: Bonnie Moore and Alma Robinson.
Friends are invited to meet with the family on Sunday,
November 20, 2011 from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at Bocken Funeral Home, 7042 Kennedy Avenue, Hammond (Hessville), followed by a service at 6:00 p.m. Burial at St. John Cemetery in Hammond will be at a later date.
Faye has been a resident of the Calumet Area since 1954.
She retired from Community Hospital in Munster after working as a Nurse's Aide for over 20 years. Faye was very active in the P.T. A. at Columbia, Spohn and also at Hammond Tech schools. She enjoyed working with crafts and making things for her family. Faye was a loving wife, mother and a devoted grandmother and sister. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made in Faye's memory to the American Stroke Foundation, 5960 Dearborn St., Ste 100, Mission, KS 66202.
